Chris Cragin Day holds an MFA in Theater from Baylor University and a BA in Theater from Oklahoma Baptist University. Before coming to King's she worked as a professional freelance writer in New York City. Her freelance work includes web video marketing and training scripts and copy, as well as play scripts.  
 
Her play The River Nun, was presented in the 2009 EWG Spotlight Series at The Public Theater. (http://publictheater.org/content/view/154/#2008) New York productions of her plays include Emily, An Amethyst Remembrance by Firebone Theatre in 2009, Deadheading Roses by Firebone Theater in 2006, L&M and Milking Success, at the Nuyorican Poets Café, and Dig at Horse Trade Theater. Her new musical Son of a Gun, co-written with Don Chaffer of Waterdeep, will be produced by Firebone Theater in November 2012. Son of a Gun was part of the 2011 O’Neill National Music Theater Conference where it was work-shopped and presented. Son of a Gun was also given readings at Joe’s Pub and Playwright’s Horizons (hosted by The Drama League), and was a finalist for the Richard Rogers Award.
Beyond New York, Chris's plays have been presented by Burning Coal Theater, Acacia Theater, the Keller Theater, the South East Theater Conference, Baylor University and Garner Webb University. Other awards and commissions include: Actors Theatre of Louisville Ten Minute Play Contest Semi-Finalist, Yale Music Theater Institute Finalist, Fellowship of the Performing Arts new play commission, Spark and Echo new play commission, commission from award-winning author Ian Morgan Cron for a book to stage adaptation, commission from ArtWithin Theater. Chris and her husband, Steve Day, are founding members of Firebone Theater.
