Ina Kumi was born and raised in former communist Albania. This was a time that marked her quest in life for meaning and freedom, and formed her life- lasting love of philosophy and international politics.

After spending several years working as an electrical engineer for the Albanian Energy Corporation, she began her business career by working for ItalKumiPhoto. In the role of CEO, she helped to grow the business into a multinational corporation that represented Kodak and Agfa for the Southern European region. While working for her family business, she held important jobs with the Department of Defense and Bank of America.
With the escalation of civil wars in the former Yugoslavian Republic, she decided to follow her heart and serve the war victims in Bosnia, Kosovo, and else in the Balkans. From 1998 till 2001 she worked as a liaison between UN and different Christian NGO’s to promote peace and restoration. During this time she coordinated efforts of World Relief, World Concern, Samaritan’s Purse, Tear Fund, World Vision, Feed the Hungry, and other local and international NGO’s to create a master-plan of intervention in the post war zones. Thousands of small businesses, schools, health clinics, rehabilitation centers, and other projects were the result of that effort. That led into an offer from NATO, which she accepted in 2001believing God would use her in the NATO headquarters to better serve these areas and their population. Convinced she had started something that others would expand, she resigned from NATO at the end of 2002 to move to the United States in order to pursue further studies and start her family.
Following her graduate studies at the Zicklin School of Business in 2005, she worked for a few years as an investment banker. It is during this time she realized that throughout her career, she had witnessed how education transforms generations and ultimately changes the future of a nation. Therefore, she joined King's College in March 2005. She spent her first five years working in the Provost Office, and another three years as the College Senior Financial Analyst. During her eight years at the college she has enjoyed teaching math, statistics, decision management, operations management, and other classes. Ms. Kumi is back in the Provost office since August 1, 2012.
She resides in Roosevelt Island, New York, with her husband and her three daughters.
