Bearden Coleman holds a Bachelor of Humanities degree from Biola University and a Master of Fine Arts degree from Texas State University. Professor Coleman came to The King's College after having taught at Texas State and Queensborough Community College. He teaches college writing and film appreciation classes at TKC. He appreciates the Christian commitment of King's and relishes the opportunity to serve, teach, and challenge college-aged Christian students.

In the classroom, Professor Coleman explores issues in popular culture through a Christian lens. He introduces students to highly-acclaimed works of literature and provocative film styles and gives them the tools to unpack and assess these works. In his writing classes, students can expect to read from 20th century Southern writers like Flannery O'Connor, Walker Percy, and Berry Hannah. He is currently pursuing a master's degree in media studies with a concentration in film from The New School.
Professor Coleman lives in New York with his wife and adopted daughter (from Ethiopia). The family works hard to stay connected to Ethiopian culture through food, music, and the Ethiopian church.
