Dr. Johnson earned a Ph.D. in Theology at the University of Saint Andrew's, Scotland. Before coming to King's, he initially studied psychology as an undergraduate and then went on to seminary. He served for eight years as an associate pastor and director of education at GracePoint of Webster in St. Louis, Missouri, and served two years in the Church of Scotland. He has given public lectures on death in American culture and the philosophy of worldview for the Francis Schaeffer Institute. He also teaches regularly in Western Kenya in a school for rural pastors and is currently ordained in the Evangelical Presbyterian Church. 
 
Dru was born in a big pink hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and lived nearby for most of his youth. He served two years active duty and five years in the reserves of the U.S. Air Force, working extensively in counter-narcotics operations in Colombia, South America. He and his wife have four children, the oldest two adopted from Guatemala, and live in New Jersey.
