Dr. Williams earned his Ph.D. in mathematics from the City University of New York after majoring in mathematics and philosophy at Lehigh University. He has done research in number theory through a National Science Foundation grant and given a number of talks concerning number theory and arithmetic dynamics. His dissertation focused on properties of good and bad reduction of dynamical systems over number fields and function fields. |

Phil has taught math classes at Brooklyn College, the City College of New York, and the Borough of Manhattan Community College. He has lived in Brooklyn since 2004 and enjoys cooking, walks in the park, and late night discussions about philosophy, theology, and mathematics. He also enjoys trying to explain what it is that mathematicians actually do.
