Minors
One of the great strengths of a King’s College education is the
interdisciplinary nature of the curriculum. Students explore a wide range of
topics, but, most importantly, they study the relationships among these
topics, which in turn spurs interest in more than one discipline. Therefore,
The King’s College offers students the opportunity to earn a minor in one of
eleven different fields. Each minor is carefully designed to complement the
three King’s majors, Politics, Philosophy, and Economics,
Business Management, and
Media, Culture, and the Arts. (Rather than earning a minor, students who
excel in a particular discipline within their major can earn Departmental
Honors. See Exceptions.)The minors allow students to explore fields they may
not directly encounter within their major (for example, an MCA major with a
Philosophy minor) or to investigate in greater depth areas that their major
only introduces (for example, a PPE major with a Literature minor). A
student interested in going to law school can earn a Pre-Law minor, while a
student who wants to start a political consulting firm might major in PPE
and minor in Business Management. And because theology is such an important part of the
Common Core at King’s, all TKC students can earn a theology minor by taking
two theology electives beyond their regular Core classes. Each minor
consists of six three-credit courses within the specific discipline that
range from freshman- to senior-level.
The College offers minors in the following areas, with required courses
as listed:
- Business Management: Microeconomics, Persuasive Writing and
Speaking, Principles of Management and Organization, Financial
Accounting, Introduction to Marketing, and one Business Elective.

Management.

minor in: Economics, Philosophy, or Politics.

Culture and the Arts, Journalism, or Media Studies.
Students seeking a minor are required to maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0
within the minor. Transfer courses may count towards a minor, but a minimum
of nine credits must be earned at The King’s College. Students must declare
a major before they may declare a minor.
