King's College Business Plan Competition
Mission Statement: The King's College School of Business’s Business Plan
Competition seeks to develop business students' abilities to communicate
ideas effectively, provide innovative solutions to contemporary social
dilemmas using business principles, and partake in co-creation with God.
The King's College is an environment for change. Its unique and demanding
curriculum serves as a catalyst for both excellence in work and influence in
society. The Business Plan Competition's vision is similar to that of The King's
College by holding exemplary standards and preparing students for their
professional careers. The Business Plan Competition provides a wonderful
opportunity for entrepreneurial students to apply their gifts through tangible
projects.
Innovation is a gift; without it the world would be a predictable
and boring place. The ability to create is truly marvelous and is meant to
be utilized. God gave man dominion over the earth and responsibility to care
for after His creation. The Business Plan Competition promotes this idea of
co-creation, as well as that of shalom, or “peace.” Co-creation is a way of
restoration: creating businesses that are managed according to Godly
principles, including genuine respect for the individual, trustworthy
dealings, and wise stewardship of resources, creates a system that brings
peace and prosperity. This competition encourages students to explore
co-creation and implement shalom in the workplace.
This year's theme for the Business Plan Competition is poverty. We are
not looking for non-profit ideas, but for all businesses ventures containing
potential to grow into largely profitable corporations containing solutions
for areas of poverty. We anticipate impressive and excellent submissions in
the fall of 2011.
