The King’s College “Semester in
the City” program provides the
opportunity for students from across
the nation to study for one
semester in New York City.
The King’s College has been
in the New York area for over 60
years. In 1999 we moved our
campus to the Empire State
Building. You will live and
study right in the heart of
mid-town Manhattan. Our
curriculum intentionally
integrates the best that NYC has
to offer into the student’s
educational experience.
The Semester in the City
program combines the best of The
King’s College with the
uniqueness of New York City to
create an intense and powerful
educational experience.
First, you will take
our introduction to New York
City course, New York City 101,
taught by Dr. Anne Hendershott.
The course introduces students
to the challenges,
opportunities, diversity, and
history of New York City.
Second, you will take two
classes that focus on the study
of the ideas that matter most.
The King’s curriculum is built
around the disciplines of
politics, philosophy, and
economics. Each semester courses
will be drawn from this core to
hone your thinking in these
areas. In the fall of 2008,
students will study philosophy
with world renowned philosopher,
Dr. Peter Kreeft
and
economics with the Bulgarian
born economist,
Dr. Alex Tokarev.
Last, each semester has a
vocational emphasis. The first
emphasis we are introducing is
journalism which is being led by
the editor-in-chief of
WORLD
magazine, Dr. Marvin Olasky.
Dr. Olasky
is also the
Provost here at The King’s
College. You will study with Dr. Olasky
and associates and visit
key media companies in NYC. You
will also have the chance to
meet with some of the leading
journalists in NYC for Q & A
discussions. You can see a
fuller description of the
journalism program by

Journalism is just the
beginning. Other programs that
are planned for launch beginning
spring of 2009 are business and
urban studies.
