Merry Christmas! We hope
all of you are enjoying this Christmas season. The
students completed their final exams last week and are
now home to celebrate Christmas with their families. We
pray you will have a wonderful time with your family and
friends. Remember He is the reason for the season!
This month you will have a
chance to read about Judy Barringer ’85, learn a way you
can help the students and read about Christmas parties
then and now. Remember to visit our website at
www.tkc.edu/advancement/alumni. |

Judy Barringer is the
Manager of Accounting and Finance at The King’s
College. A 1985 graduate of TKC with a B.S. in
Business Administration, Judy has been working at
the College for the past seven years.
Judy was born and
raised in Rockland County, New York and still
resides there. She still actively plays piano at her
church every Sunday and has a passion for
photography. Before working for the College Judy
spent ten years at Sony Corp and worked her way up
from Junior Accountant to the Manager of Accounting
and Finance in the Magnetic Media Division. After
completing her MBA in Accounting at Rochester
Institute of Technology, Judy worked for Medical
Economics before getting a call from Dr. Radant
offering her a position at the College. |
|
Judy has had a unique experience helping rebuild her
Alma mater. She has seen the College go through many
changes and has been amazed at how God has had His hand
in the whole process. Witnessing the growth in the
faculty and staff as well as the students has been
exciting. She is still surprised to see so many students
walking through the campus because just a short time ago
there were only 17.
When asked about
Christmas memories from her college days, Judy fondly
remembered when many students would gather together and
decorate the main lounge. She said the students would
participate in putting up garland and a Christmas tree
and someone would always remember to decorate the moose.
Judy and her friends would always go into New York City
during Christmas to look at the lights and to stand in
line to see Santa at Macy’s. Although the majority of
the Christmas season during College was spent studying
for finals, Judy did make time to celebrate with her
friends. |

Music Comes to The
King’s College
By John Gonska, ’09 |
|
|
|
There is an
exciting opportunity for the Student Government
at The King’s College. As the semester has
progressed, many students have voiced their
desire to continue to develop their musical
abilities. However, opportunities to develop and
express these talents are difficult to do in the
context of the city and school. At The King’s
College we believe that in order to have well
rounded students we not only need to offer
academic and spiritual outlets, but artistic
outlets as well.
Surprisingly,
the majority of students here play the piano,
and have expressed a desire to exercise this
talent. Herein lies the problem… no one owns a
piano because it is not practical, and in most
cases possible. There is also no place for them
to practice. |
 |
| |
|
|
|
In conjunction with the
effort of the Student Government to create a specific
room where students can enjoy their musical abilities
together, there is also a need to provide an upright
piano. This is specifically important because the
transportation and storage of an upright piano by any
particular individual would be nearly impossible with
the limited space allotted in New York City.
We are currently seeking
the donation of an upright piano that would serve to
benefit formal functions, student organizations, and
personally encourage a majority of the student body.
Student Government is financially prepared to cover the
costs of transportation and upkeep of the piano. Any
help you can give us would be much appreciated. Please
email me at
jgonska@tkc.edu. |

Christmas 17 Years Ago...
Taken from the 1989 NBC Harvester Yearbook |
|
|
Each
year Northeastern gathers together for its annual
Christmas Social. It is a time of happiness as lasting
traditions break through. The night begins with trimming
the enormous tree with bright lights and various
decorations. It seems that there is always a select few
in charge of this task. They weave in and out from each
other placing a Christmas ball here or a candy cane
there. When they are done and all step back, oohs and
aahs echo through the building. The rest of the evening
is spent in fellowship with one another singing carols
and the famous reading of a Christmas story by Mr. Dahl,
and of course, we can’t forget all the homemade cookies
and candies! As the fire begins to burn out, the evening
begins to fade. However, people are still talking and
laughing, not quite ready to leave, as the joy and
meaning of Christmas is remembered.

Christmas
Cheer at TKC |
 |
This Christmas season found TKC students studying
very hard for final exams. The 3rd annual
Christmas Party which was hosted by three
different student organizations helped all
students forget about studying for a few hours.
The “Red and Green Affair” invited the entire
student body to come and celebrate the Christmas
season while building community throughout. During
the party the newly formed King’s Ensemble
performed Christmas carols and a raffle was held
for three lucky winners. In the end all students
welcomed the much needed break!
