   Alumni E-Newsletter

January 2006

Dear Alumni,

Welcome to 2006! The King's College is excited about the role our alumni are playing and will continue to play as the year’s progress. In this edition, we will share some thoughts from Rick Millham, King's Alumni President, and Lance Covan, VP of Institutional Advancement and President of the New York Foundation for Leadership. Plus, we will talk about Key Issues, and introduce a new section entitled The Old and New Chapters.

SPOTLIGHT

Dear Fellow Alumni,

Welcome to the first alumni newsletter of 2006. These are exciting days to be a King’s Alum. Let me assure you the dynamic vision for The King’s College is alive and well in New York City! In the next number of months you will see changes to the way the college interacts with the alumni that will show the significant value the administration places on YOU, our alumni.

I can tell that the college recognizes the alumni as the lifeblood of an institution. As such, the college is embarking on the largest search for lost alumni in the college’s history. This will take significant resources and time, but it is a job that must get done. We had a great response of people updating their records from the last newsletter, and continue to encourage you to keep updating until we have completed this process.

We look forward to continuing to work to strengthen the role the alumni has with the college. Lynn Mitchell, VP of King's Alumni Association, and I spent 6 hours with advancement executives in the beginning of January to discuss the future and passion King's has toward serving the alumni. Please let us know how we might serve you better at alumni@tkc.edu.

Serving the King of King’s,

Rick Millham Jr. ‘90
President, The King’s College Alumni Association

KEY ISSUES

LOST ALUMNI:
As Rick mentioned, we have started the exhaustive search for all our lost alumni. We hired an outside company the first week of the year to complete this project for us. We will keep you informed as to how the process is progressing.

MATCHING GRANT:
In 2005, The King's College was given a matching grant of $2.5 million. Thanks to all the support of the alumni and friends of the college, we were able to raise $2.0 million. That means the $2.0 million we raised was matched, totaling $4 million brought in from the matching grant in 2005.
We currently have another matching grant for 2006 worth $2.7 million.

THE OLD AND NEW CHAPTERS

Moose Head from King's

Weather Vane from NBC

These pictures were taken in the Student Lounge located on the Concourse Level in the Empire State Building. The Weather Vane was restored from its campus and has been preserved as a part of the storied history of King's. This moose head was presented to the college by Jim O’Bryon at Homecoming 2004 as a replica of the real moose head from the Briarcliff Campus.

A WORD FROM LANCE COVAN

Our desire is to partner with our alumni to continue what was started in 1938 – to educate kingdom-minded young people to engage the world for Christ. By targeting the strategic national institutions, we believe our graduates will have tremendous opportunities to represent the faith in whatever their future brings. We believe our alumni are instrumental in this process. You embody the heart and soul of what this institution stands for. It is our intention to not only build on its well-known legacy, but enhance and strengthen this legacy to impact future generations with the gospel.

I welcome your insight and value your input as we move forward together.
W. Lance Covan
VP of Institutional Advancement

The King's College is excited to continue to work with you as we move forward to influence the world for Christ! We are eager to hear how God is working in and through your lives. Please visit our updated website at www.tkc.edu. You will find it more interactive as we have added a new feature, the Alumni Bulletin Board. This will allow you to hear what your fellow alumni are doing and give you an opportunity to leave a message for others to read as well! It is fun and exciting and we hope that you enjoy this new feature!
