The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) awards their Team Ethics & Sportsmanship award to men's and women's collegiate soccer teams who have not recorded any red cards during the season. There are 3 levels to the award:

The Lady Lions had two yellow cards during the season and will therefore earn the Silver Award. Athletic Director Sean Horan said, "I am very proud of this team. Head Coach Bryan Finley added, "The NSCAA is a great organization recognized by the entire USA soccer community and around the world. The team should be very proud of this honor, and I hope it is the first of many more."

Written by Bryan Finley
Released 10/22/2012

On Saturday 10/20/12 the Lady Lions hit the road with the TKC Men's Soccer team and Women's Volleyball team for a tripleheader afternoon with the Valley Forge Christian Patriots. Before the Lady Lions could blink they were down 0-2 on a couple of quick goals by the Patriots. The game then settled down and the Lady Lions did not allow another shot during the first half. With about ten minutes to go, TKC set up for a corner kick. Freshman Erika Hilliard took the kick and after a brief scramble in the box, junior Katie Morris put it home for her 7th goal of the season to cut the deficit to 2-1. TKC would try hard for the equalizer in the second half, but with ten minutes to go and the Lady Lions looking for the tying goal, Valley Forge came down and put in their third goal of the day. The TKC Men had an equally tough day losing 2-1 to the hosts, but the day was not a total loss as TKC Women's Volleyball was victorious.

The Lady Lions Recognize Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Written by Bryan Finley
Released 10/11/2012

The Women's Soccer Team at The King's College is wrapping up a tee shirt sale in which they hope to accomplish two objectives. For one, they want to promote school spirit by offering the tee shirts which have a King's Athletics design to all students, faculty, fellow athletes, friends and relatives. They also wanted to support a charitable cause. The tee shirt is offered in several different color combinations. One of these color combinations has the design in pink, it comes on either a gray or navy blue shirt. A portion of the proceeds from this sale will be donated to breast cancer research.

Coach Bryan Finley said, "So many of us have had friends and family affected by cancer. With October being breast cancer awareness month, as well as being such a big month in the schedule of a soccer team, the girls thought it would be a great idea to try to promote school spirit while also raising money for such a worthy cause. We're hoping it is a success, so we can do something similar every October."

Senior Captain Amanda Sanderson (Houston, TX) added, "My aunt just received treatment for breast cancer and is doing really well. This fundraiser is great because not only will it directly help in saving the lives of those with breast cancer, but it will also help their loved ones. It gives them hope, and that's a powerful thing."
