Women's Soccer Wins Third Straight
Freshman forward Genesis Castrellon's hot scoring streak continued as she notched four goals and two assists in a 6-0 win over conference foe Berkeley on Saturday afternoon. She now has ten goals and five assists in her last three games, all important conference victories for TKC against HVIAC opponents. Her first goal of the day came just three minutes into the game off a nice pass from sophomore Caitlin Essex. the two connected again 14 minutes later for a 2-0 lead. About one minute went by before Castrellon slammed a shot off the right post that freshman forward Jessica Burchman collected and sent to the back of the net for her first collegiate goal and a 3-0 lead. Late in the first half junior center midfielder Caroline Craddock sent a beautiful through ball up the middle which Castrellon took to the goal for her third of the day. Craddock and Essex are tied for second on the team in assists with four apiece. Castrellon would close out the scoring in the second half off feed from freshman midfielder Jordan Olson. The TKC defense and midfield of Voleak Sroeung, Maxine Fileta, Erika Hilliard, Annalise Bourgeois, Ariel Mouser were strong all day only allowing one shot on goalkeeper Victoria McAllister who picked up her fourth shutout and sixth victory of the season. The team is now 7-3 overall and 4-1 in the HVIAC conference where they are currently in second place. Wednesday afternoon they take on Medgar Evers out in Brooklyn in another important conference game.
