Women's Soccer Wins Fifth Straight to End Regular Season
Down 0-1 at the 17 minute mark of the first half, the Lady Lions regained their focus and knotted the game 1-1 on a goal by Genesis Castrellon assisted by Caitlin Essex. Essex would put TKC ahead 2-1 with three minutes to go in the half with an unassisted partial breakaway. At halftime the discussion revolved around limiting or eliminating simple mistakes as well as a change in formation. This paid dividends as the Lions erupted for six goals in the second half. Castrellon had three more goals with an assist from defender Ariel Mouser. Castrellon would also add an assist on a beautiful cross from the endline followed by a brilliant header from midfielder Kasey Sisson, her first collegiate goal. Jordan Olson added an unassisted goal and Ariel Mouser closed out the scoring with her second goal of the season in the 8-1 win. The Lions outshot the Patriots 29-9 and strong defense was provided by Olson, Caroline Craddock and Maxine Fileta as well as goalkeeper Victoria McAlister. Jessica Burchman and Voleak Sroeung gave a tireless effort for 90 minutes. Alex Rollis pressured the Patriot defense right from the opening whistle. The team finishes the season with a 9-3 record and awaits their Sunday 10/27 HVIAC Conference Semi-Final match against an opponent still to be determined.
