Four Lady Lions Earn First Team All-Conference Recognition in the HVIAC
Juniors Erika Hilliard (Bedford, TX) and Caitlin Essex (Dallas, TX) and freshmen Victoria McAlister (Rancho Cucamonga, CA) and Genesis Castrellon (Encinitas, CA) all received First Team All-Conference awards from the Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The King's College Women's Soccer program completed its second season as a varsity program and first year as a member of the HVIAC conference. The team went 10-4 overall (5-1 and second place in the HVIAC conference). After defeating Sarah Lawrence 5-1 in the conference semi-finals the Lady Lions lost 3-1 to Albany Pharmacy in the championship game. TKC came in to the final with a six game winning streak having outscored the opposition 42-3 in those six games. Hilliard, a team captain and center back, was a key figure for the team's defense which gave up only 18 goals in 15 games. Fellow captain Essex played both center midfield and forward this season and had a balanced 9 goals and 9 assists and had the game winning goal in the conference semi-finals. McAlister led the conference in save percentage (.822) and shutouts (4). Castrellon, also a forward and center midfielder, led the HVIAC and USCAA in goals (29), assists (14), shots (114), shots on goal (82), and was tied for third in game winning goals (5).
