ABOUT US

The King’s College seeks to transform society by preparing students for careers in which they help to shape and eventually to lead strategic public and private institutions. This makes the Office of Career Development a central focus at King’s. We want to help students begin thinking about their career paths and how to connect their King’s education to the world-at-large.

The mission of the Office of Career Development is to build and equip students with the fundamental job skills needed for securing internships and post-graduate employment. Specifically, the Office of Career Development will assist students in developing an individual plan for their long-term career goals and assist in making the transition from the classroom to their professional careers. Specific services include:

WHAT WE OFFER

Workshops
Need a basic overview of all things job-related? At our workshops, you can get information on resumes, cover letters, interviewing skills, and professional etiquette all at once! If you’re looking for a crash course in careers, check the schedule for upcoming workshops. Workshop attendance is a good way to illustrate your seriousness and commitment to your own career path prior to more specific consultation.

Employer and Organizational Seminars/ Presentations
The King’s College offers great opportunities to meet with companies and organizations interested in King’s students. Check our Calendar for upcoming presentations from companies with opportunities for students both after graduation and during King’s. If you are interested in presenting to our students, you can find information under Employers.

Consultation
For underclassmen exploring career interests and upperclassmen looking at job and internship opportunities, consultations with Career Development staff can help provide feedback on resume building and long-term career plans. One-on-one consultations can be scheduled once a student has attended a resume seminar and done the basic work of putting together a first resume draft. (Please see Career Tools for resume ideas or sign up to attend the next resume workshop.) To schedule a consultation, please email Career Development.

Job Posting
Office of Career Development utilizes a number of communication outlets to inform students about employment or internship opportunities. Job and internship posts can be found:

Andrea  Lopez ('2015)
Business Administration

Brief description of your current responsibilities:

The New Jersey First Lady's Office is responsible for organizing and maintaining Mary Pat Christie and the Christie family's life and schedule. As the intern, I worked on a wide variety of tasks including researching and writing briefings about organizations and causes requesting MPC as a representative. I also handled a lot of incoming mail and responded for MPC to general inquiries, requests, and thank you's. I entered these into our database then drafted a response letter catered specifically for that person. I also helped with events, composing mailing lists, tracking RSVPs, on-site work, etc. My last assignment was organizing H.R.H Prince Harry's visit to Jersey Shore. I was running around double checking RSVPs, addresses, making credentials, mailing letters, etc.
