Home State: Texas
Current Residence: New York, New York
Current Employer: Summer Intern Reporter, Dallas Morning News
Brief description of your responsibilities: I will be writing for the entertainment section (music, film, books, dining, arts etc.) and helping produce the website.
Best part of job: I’m looking forward to meeting people I otherwise wouldn’t have the opportunity to meet.
Please briefly summarize any other relevant internship or work past experiences: I have completed programs with the World Journalism Institute and National Journalism Center, reported for weekly print newspapers in Texas, web magazine A Journey Through NYC Religions, and The Daily Caller in Washington, D.C., and written and edited the Empire State Tribune at King’s.
How has King’s education prepared you for this role?: Studying history, philosophy, and political thought at King’s has given me perspective on modern culture and has taught me how to question my own views as well as others’ views to move closer to the truth. I’ve been learning how to ask the right questions.
What are your plans after graduation/how this position fits into those plans?:
I plan to report news in New York City and may consider grad school in a few years. Interning for the Dallas Morning News will give me the opportunity to learn from professional journalists at an award-winning print newspaper.
Favorite Books: Recent favorites are: City Notebook; Half the Sky; Sit, Walk, Stand; The Narcissism Epidemic; The Cost of Discipleship. Next up is Enrique’s Journey.
Surprising fact about yourself: I have a scar from a cage dodge ball tournament.
