May 2012

From the President:

On May 5th, I had the honor of watching King's graduate more than 60 ambitious, enthusiastic young men and women. They graduate into a troubled economy, but I have  no doubt that they will serve Christ well and thrive wherever God places them. Many of them have already landed jobs in publishing, finance, and education, or have been accepted into prestigious graduate programs like Georgetown law and Yale Divinity School. You can read more in the articles below.

You may already know from recent emails that big changes are ahead for The King's College. In the coming weeks we will move to our new downtown campus where we will begin classes in the fall semester. Our offices will move over the summer and we will send updates as the space becomes the new home of The King's College.

At the same time, we've officially launched The Campaign for The King's College. Our goal is to raise $25 million dollars by the end of the calendar year. We've raised $16 million so far from generous donations from foundations, the board and other donors. To learn more about the campaign you can visit this website.

With our new location on Wall Street, a $25 million campaign and the right students and faculty, the College is poised to continue to fulfill its mission in educating and raising leaders to shape and eventually to lead the strategic institutions.

King's Student Takes on Abortion

CraddockFor many Christian college students in America, the study of economic and social policy is largely confined to the classroom. But every semester at The King’s College, students like Joshua Craddock (PPE ‘14, pictured left) prove that New York City is an exciting environment for ambitious Christians.

Craddock’s passion for the pro-life movement led him to work at the United Nations, where he has organized an international pro-life summit for pro-life leaders.Craddock’s involvement with the pro-life movement started when he was young. He first worked with an educational outreach program called “Justice For All,” which facilitates discussion on abortion at college campuses. During Colorado’s first ballot initiative campaign for life in 2008, Craddock began work with Personhood USA. His work included circulating petitions and collecting signatures for amendments that would define personhood as beginning at conception.

The King's College Occupies Wall St.

52 BroadwayIn September of 2011, scores of protesters descended on lower Manhattan to “Occupy Wall St.” The message of the protest was clear: end greed, increase wealth redistribution, and stop big business. In the fall of 2012, a new voice will occupy Wall St., and its message will be equally clear: liberty, limited government, and a return to Christian truths regarding politics, philosophy, economics, culture, and business.

The King’s College is pleased to announce the relocation of the College to the corner of Broadway and Exchange Place in Lower Manhattan’s Financial District. The move is designed to facilitate the rapid growth of the College and increase the influence of King’s in New York City and around the world.

Law Schools Compete for King's Graduate

HarrisonAlexandra Harrison was not always set on attending law school. Early in her King's career, she developed an interest in economics. During her senior year, however, she realized that her interest in economics stemmed from examining cause and effect relationships. With a new appreciation for law, Harrison decided to take the LSAT and apply to a range of programs.

After months of hard studying, Harrison took the LSAT and waited for the results. She scored a 169, which placed her in the 97th percentile, and law programs noticed. She was accepted to Georgetown Law with a substantial scholarship, Regent University, and also to University of Texas, Austin with scholarship. Harrison initially decided to go with #13 ranked Georgetown, but the University of Texas, Austin made a competitive counter-offer with significantly higher scholarship money.
