King’s Faculty Discuss American Politics on Wilkow!

Following the release of Keeping Our Republic: Principles for a Political Reformation, King’s Professors David Corbin and Matthew Parks have been asked to comment on current political issues from the deficit to the 2012 presidential election. Most recently, the two appeared on Wilkow!, a conservative political talk show hosted by Andrew Wilkow.

Professor David Corbin, also the Program Chair of the School of Public Service, visited Wilkow! to talk about the 2012 presidential elections following the first of three presidential debates.

America Drops to 18th on World Economic Freedom Report

brenbergOn October 9th, Assistant Professor of Economics Brian Brenberg visited Wilkow! to discuss the alarming drop in economic freedom in America measured by the Fraser Institute in its annual Economic Freedom of the World Report.

In the most recent Fraser Institute report, the United States ranked #18 in economic freedom—a ten place drop from one year ago. Wilkow cited the take-over of the auto industry and other regulations as contributing factors to the lower ranking. He and Professor Brenberg then discussed America’s increasing affinity for central control, and argued for the benefits of economic freedom.

The King's College Republicans Host Tea Party Strategist

LennoxMichael Prell is an accomplished political writer, having published more than 30 million pieces of campaign literature. He has also worked under political names like Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel and Prime Minister of Canada Stephen Harper. Today, Prell works with Tea Party Patriots. According to the official website, "Tea Party Patriots is a national grassroots organization that exists to serve and support the thousands of local organizations and millions of grassroots Patriots throughout our nation." They provide "logistical, educational, networking and other support" to thousands of tea party groups across the country.

Anne Hendershott and Chris White publish in USA Today

bishopShould the gay community in San Francisco be worried about the arrival of Salvatore Cordileone, the new Catholic Archbishop of San Francisco? Professor Anne Hendershott and King’s alumnus Chris White write in USA Today that although Archbishop Cordileone was one of the leading proponents of Proposition 8, which defined marriage as between a man and a woman, the Archbishop is not the enemy of the gay community.

"Debates Matter; Babies Matter More" - Dr. Talcott weighs in on the election

While the country digests Governor Romney’s unexpectedly good showing at Wednesday’s presidential debate, Roger Clegg at National Review calls us back to higher things. This week the CDC released its 2011 report on births in the United States and the numbers paint an ugly picture. More than an ugly picture, they show us a society in self-caused decline.
