September 2012
From the President:
We live in incredible times. As I write this message, angry Occupy Wall St. protestors rage on the street below. Some protest corruption, others wealth, and still others property itself.
I am relieved that just a few feet inside these walls our faculty offer a more hopeful and well-reasoned perspective on our modern problems.
Last week, I was honored to have Dr. John Lennox, a world-renowned Christian apologist, lecture at The King's College. He is a thinker of great precision and wit, and his lectures on "Does Science Point to God?" were invaluable for our students.
There are a number of other developments at King's, including a new debate coach, a documentary screening, and new faculty publications. Please take a moment to see them below, and thank you for your continued support.

Documentary Screening at King's: Anonymous Father's Day
Thousands of donor-conceived people have a deep longing to know who they belong to, where they came from, and who they look like. What is it like to grow up not knowing who your biological father is or if you have any siblings? What is it like to find out that the man you thought was your dad is not your biological father, that your true biological father donated his sperm and is known only by a number? How does it impact your self-perception, the choices you make, and your view of life and the world? Donor-conceived people are demanding answers to these basic questions about their origins, their lives, and their identities.

Corbin & Parks: Backward is the Real Way Forward for Obama Democrats
“Forward,” says the reelection campaign of President Obama. It’s a natural slogan for a president with few concrete results. Why would he want anyone looking back, especially with his own mediocre record in plain view in the rear-view mirror? When Obama asks us to look back at all, it is to skip over his first term and to focus on the “failed” policies of the Bush presidency or to suggest that the Republican Party’s agenda is a century behind the times. But if Obama and the Democrats want to succeed – not just at getting elected, but at governing – they should indeed look back, two centuries back, to their party’s first president, Andrew Jackson. Backward is the real way forward for Obama Democrats. Click here to read the full article on TownHall.com
Hendershott: Ending the USCCB's Path to Progressive Politics?
After 25 years of faithful service, John Carr, executive director of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Department of Justice, Peace, and Human Development, retired last month. In a personal note circulated among his colleagues—which was later posted online—Carr wrote that he was “leaving the USCCB, not to end my service to the Church, but to serve in new ways—to help form, convene, and encourage Catholic lay men and women to take up their unique task of bringing Catholic social and moral teaching to community and political life.”
