A King’s Student Summer Experience
| |
This summer I had the opportunity to intern with Scott Ford, the CEO of Alltel, a publicly traded Fortune 250 company, headquartered in Little Rock, Arkansas. Three years ago, when I left my small town in Wisconsin, I would never have guessed I’d have the opportunity to be tutored by one of America’s most influential businessmen.
| |
Among the many things I learned at Alltel, one of the most important lessons was the power of ideas—to see ideas worked out in the fast-paced business world. I observed first-hand how people like Mr. Ford, who stewards $25 billion of investor’s money, makes decisions daily based on what he knows and believes.
| |
Through my interaction with top executives at Alltel, I began to understand that my knowledge of economic theory, political history and business principles, all of which I acquired at King’s, will be crucial to my success.
| |
This summer I experienced how these ideas cannot be separated from my faith. I truly believe I will be a better businessman because I understand that my faith influences how I think about economics, politics and good business practices. I had many conversations to this effect; one even led to clearly articulating my faith in Christ.
