King’s to host editors of the Economist Micklethwait and Wooldridge

NEW YORK, April 28, 2009—On Wednesday, April 29, Provost Marvin Olasky will interview John Micklethwait and Adrian Wooldridge, editors of the Economist and co-authors of the recently released book, God is Back: How the Global Revival of Faith is Changing the World. The event will take place at 1:30pm in the Student Lounge.

Micklethwait is the editor-in-chief of the Economist and Wooldridge is its Washington bureau chief and Lexington columnist. Micklethwait was formerly the magazine's US editor while Wooldridge is its former Washington correspondent. They were both educated at Oxford.

Together, they have co-authored four books: The Witch Doctors; A Future Perfect: the Challenge and Hidden Promise of Globalization; The Company: A Short History of a Revolutionary Idea; and The Right Nation: Conservative Power in America.

In God is Back, the authors devote a three page section to The King’s College. In speaking about higher education, they quote President Stan Oakes: “For all of the sophistication and prestige of the secular colleges . . . almost all of their professors traffic in spent ideas that do not work—bad ideas that have had a myriad of disastrous consequences in our generation. They are wrong about God, human nature, wealth, power, marriage, poverty, family, sex, America, liberty, peace, and many other decisive issues. You deserve better.”

The King’s College, committed to Jesus, the Bible and true ideas, is located in the Empire State Building in New York City.
