King’s Business Education Foundational for Alumnus Ted Pantone

NEW YORK, February 16, 2010—Upon graduating from King’s in 2007, Ted Pantone joined the R.W. Beckett Corp. to manage their $10 million parts business for HVAC equipment. Pantone quickly developed a reputation for excellent work. With Beckett’s core business deteriorating, the company's leadership personally asked Pantone to help find the "next big thing" for the company. Pantone helped to create a new division in the rapidly growing industry of Distributed Energy Storage. He is now the Project Manager of that division.

How did King’s prepare him?

“I know I would not be able to do my job had I not received the quality of education that I did from King’s. On a weekly basis, I reference very nearly every course that I had in the business program at The King’s College.” His favorite courses were Principles of Management & Organization, Business Strategy, and his Senior Project.

Even after graduation, Pantone has leaned into his professors for sound wisdom and advice. “I have the feeling that eventually they’re going to start charging me money for it, but they haven’t yet,” said Pantone with a smile.

At Beckett, Pantone replaced an employee with an MBA and six years of industry experience and developed the company in ways that the other employee was unable to do.

“The quality of education that I received from King’s is vastly superior to what I see in my contemporaries who got schooling from a whole variety of other institutions,” remarked Pantone. “I look at my education at King’s as extremely foundational to who I am as a person and also to my ability to get my job done.”

Though ahead of the competition, Pantone is realizing what he does not know about business and plans to start an MBA by fall 2012.

When asked about the best thing he took from King’s, Pantone references his faith. “I was in a community of people who really cared, [who] wanted to be there, and wanted to do something great with their lives for the sake of the Lord. That’s by far the most valuable thing that I took away from King’s.”
