Wayne Grudem Announced as Presidential Scholar
| |
NEW YORK, October 12, 2011—The King’s College is pleased to announce that Dr. Wayne Grudem will be a Presidential Scholar at The King’s College. He will be in New York City for one week, beginning October 24, and will give a public lecture on October 26.
| |
The Presidential Scholars Program brings some of today’s finest thinkers to our Empire State Building campus. In New York, Scholars will speak to our students, work with our faculty, and defend ideas about God, limited government, and free enterprise in an increasingly combative public square.

“Our nation is embroiled in many crises that are—at their roots—intellectual, moral, and spiritual. We need statesmen and stateswomen who will defend timeless truths against the aggression of the new atheism and the radical secularism that we see in society today,” Dinesh D’Souza, President of The King’s College, said.
| |
While at King’s, Dr. Grudem will focus on Christianity and politics, which is the theme of his latest book, Politics According to the Bible. His lectures—many of which will be filmed and put online—will explore such topics as biblical views of government, the role of the judiciary, environmentalism, marriage, and economic policy.
| |
He will also give a lecture titled, “The Role of the Courts: A Biblical Argument for Originalism.” Co-sponsored by the Christian Legal Society of New York City, the event will be held on October 26 at 7:00 p.m. at the American Bible Society (1865 Broadway). The event is free and open to the public, but to attend, please RSVP to cross@tkc.edu.

Dr. Grudem is Research Professor of Theology and Biblical Studies at Phoenix Seminary in Phoenix, Arizona. He received his B.A. from Harvard University, an M.Div. from Westminster Seminary, and a Ph.D. in New Testament from the University of Cambridge.

A prolific author, he has written over 19 books, including Systematic Theology (which has sold over 350,000 copies in eight languages) and Business for the Glory of God. He was also the General Editor for the ESV Study Bible, which won the 2009 Evangelical Christian Publishers Association Book of the Year Award.
