Women's Soccer Dominates Season Opener
 
NEW YORK, September 8th, 2012–The King’s College Women’s Soccer team handled NYU-Poly in their season opener by an 8-0 margin Sunday afternoon at Aviator Sports Complex. The game marked the first soccer game King’s has played since joining the USCAA and NCCAA this year. It also marked their first victory as a Varsity team.
 
The game was tied at zero until Kaitlyn Morris (junior) scored in the 16th minute. After Caitlin Essex’ (sophomore) scored twice, Morris put another ball in the net in the 42nd minute, gliding into halftime on a comfortable 4-0 lead.
 
In the second half, the Lady Lions went on to match their first half production while keeping NYU-Poly scoreless, ending the game 8-0.
 
Striker Caitlin Essex led the team with a hat trick (three goals in a single game). Kaitlyn Morris and Caroline Schuemann (sophomore) were close behind with 2 goals each, and Denissa Palmer (freshman) had one goal to her name.
 
As a team, the Lady Lions had 30 shots, 15 shots on goal, 8 goals, 5 assists and 0 fouls. NYU-Poly had 4 shots, 3 shots on goal, 0 goals, 0 assists and 0 fouls.
 
King’s will face SUNY Canton this Sunday, September 9th, at 11:00am at River Bank State Park.
