The King's College Prays for Benjamin Gotchel

UPDATE (10/15/2012): Benjamin's surgery was a success and he is recovering comfortably in Philadelphia hospital. On Sunday, he posted this status on his Facebook wall:
"Ben-1. Tumor-0."

NEW YORK, October 12th, 2012–Students, staff, faculty, and friends are praying for King's sophomore Benjamin Gotchel as he undergoes surgery to remove a dangerous tumor.

Benjamin was notified of the problem on October 9th, when doctors discovered the malignant tumor growing aggressively near his brain stem. He then met with a neurosurgeon in Philadelphia and scheduled the surgical operation for Friday, October 12th. The scheduled operation is estimated to run between three and six hours.

Benjamin has taken the difficulty with calm, confidence, and a good sense of humor. He posted a Facebook update asking friends for "peace of mind for me and my family, wisdom for the doctor, and a speedy recovery so I can get back to being NYC's Most Notorious Hipster." His friends are showing support on social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and by phone, text, and email.

We ask all of our friends, alumni, students, staff, faculty, and members of our board of trustees to be in prayer for Benjamin today.
