Does self-identification as “Evangelical” necessarily mean “Republican”? How should Evangelicals interact in political discussion, and what stances on public policy naturally flow from Evangelicalism? On October 9th, Dr. David Innes, Co-Chair of the School of Politics, Philosophy, and Economics, addressed these questions and more with Lisa Sharon Harper at Huntington University.
Lisa Sharon Harper and Dr. Innes are co-authors of Left, Right, & Christ: Evangelical Faith in Politics. From their divergent perspectives, Innes and Harper explore how Christian faith shapes one’s participation in the political process. They argue their positions on issues including poverty, health care, immigration, same-sex marriage, abortion, terrorism, and the environment, in a robust yet respectful give-and-take.
