Alumna Joins King's to Lead The King's Debate Society
Rebecca Tingstrom, J.D. Returns As Director of Speech and Debate
NEW YORK -- August 7, 2013 -- The King's College has named Rebecca Tingstrom, J.D. as its next Director of Speech and Debate. Tingstrom will lead and grow the college's debate team, The King’s Debate Society.
Tingstrom joins The King's College after graduating from the Regent University School of Law in May 2013. She recently completed associate work with The Keel Group, L.L.C. in Virginia Beach, VA.
While attending Regent in 2012 and 2013, Tingstrom was President of the Student Bar Association and the Business Law Society.
Tingstrom received her Bachelor’s Degree in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics from The King's College in 2009.
The King's Debate Society President John Sailer said, "Rebecca is a great fit for the The King’s Debate Society. Having graduated from King's and receiving her J.D. from Regent University, she has unique experiences that are valuable to our collegiate culture."
Tingstrom said, "I am excited to return to the King's community as the Director of Speech and Debate. I have seen an increasing need for individuals who can contribute to the legal field by articulating clearly with force, eloquence, and humility true ideas in regard to the social, political, legal, and spiritual issues confronting us today. I am encouraged by the eagerness with which King's students engage these ideas."
Last week, Tingstrom took New York and New Jersey bar exams.
The King’s Debate Society was founded five years ago by Matthias Clock ’11 (Politics, Philosophy, and Economics) to train students to advocate Truth in the marketplace of ideas. Recently, The King’s Debate Society was ranked 8th in the nation and 25th in the world.
