Register for Parents Weekend

NEW YORK, September 24 2008—The King’s College is pleased to announce its first annual Parents Weekend to be held October 31-November 2, in New York City.

Parents Weekend will give parents the opportunity to spend time with their son or daughter as well as meet other parents, and to experience first-hand what students experience every day.

According to Clay Cook, Director of Alumni and Parent Relations, the event is designed to give parents “a better understanding of what life in the middle of the semester looks like for their child. At the beginning of the semester, parents see the apartment and the school, but now they get to see what life’s really like for their child. A phone call just can’t do this justice.”

Parents will be invited to attend a lecture given by a King’s professor, allowing them to engage the ideas that their students broach every day. Additionally, parents will attend a House-sponsored event that will familiarize them with the House system—the main social and spiritual catalyst of the college.

In addition to experiencing life with their students, parents will have the chance to fellowship together and to hear how they can influence the college by getting involved with The Parents' Association.

“We’ve planned a weekend that will be a lot of fun but will also give parents the opportunity to connect socially and intellectually with what King’s has to offer,” Cook said. “We hope they’ll take the opportunity to be a part of this and that it will be a tradition that all parents will look forward to for years to come.”
