Dinesh D’Souza Interviewed in Slate Magazine
President D’Souza Discusses Faith, Atheism, and Debate
NEW YORK, November 10, 2011—Dinesh D’Souza, President of The King’s College, continues to attract media attention for his series of debates against new atheists. On November 8th, President Dinesh D’Souza was interviewed by Slate Magazine about his upcoming Intelligence Squared debate on the motion “The World Would Be Better Off Without Religion.” The debate will be held on November 15th at New York University’s Skirball Center.
During the course of the interview, President D’Souza was asked a series of questions ranging from “have you always been as religious as you are now?” to “has a student ever asked you a question that you just couldn’t answer?”
President D’Souza also discussed what a truly secular society might look like, saying, “A world without religion would not represent Las Vegas at all… Las Vegas has this appeal because there is a Peoria, Illinois. I don't think it represents secular society. It represents a sort of an attempt at creating an adult Disneyland, a fantasy enclave within a largely nonsecular surrounding country.”
The debate will be streamed live on Tuesday night. You can view it by following this link. You can view the full interview on Slate here.
