Dear Parents,

As seniors collect their caps and gowns and participate in their final classes, their final house meetings, their final activities, it’s evident that their King’s experience has been life-changing. I also see among those who will return in the fall, anticipation about the new campus, new leadership opportunities, and new academic challenges. It’s clear to me, now more than ever, that our students have made right decisions that move them forward. And I am exceedingly proud.

As you know, students at The King’s College are an ambitious lot. In fact, keeping up with the volume of student activity is a New York size endeavor. As I reflect on this past semester, here are highlights to celebrate. Please follow the link and take a moment to see what God has done at King's this semester!

Best,
Eric Bennett

Callista Gingrich Visits The King's College

GingrichThe King’s College was proud to host Mrs. Callista Gingrich for a talk on American Exceptionalism on Monday, April 9th. The event was organized by The King’s College Republicans.

The King’s College Republicans was founded last fall by Christian Stempert, a sophomore and member of the House of Dietrich Bonhoeffer. The club collaborated with members of Mrs. Gingrich’s staff to host the event, which included food, a lecture, and an informal meet and greet following Mrs. Gingrich’s speech.

The Tradition of Bonhoeffer-Lewis Pig Roasts

Bonhoeffer-LewisBonhoeffer’s annual pig roast with the house of C. S. Lewis is one of our oldest and most delicious traditions. Each year, the two houses gather at the Queens residence of Dr. Stephen Salyers, our beloved faculty advisor (who we call “Doc”), to fellowship together and consume copious amounts of pork.

It all started during the 2006-2007 academic year when the executive teams of Bonhoeffer and Lewis decided to have a barbecue get-together. Since Doc often graciously extends his hospitality to us for events, his house was the perfect setting. “Doc’s house is a great place for community,” explains Mark Thorne who was the President of Bonhoeffer at the time, “and we were particularly friendly with Lewis, so it was a no-brainer to have the event with them.”

The Most Breathtaking Building: Socrates in the City Hosts Dallas Willard

Interregnum

As I rounded the corner onto 54th Street from Fifth Avenue, the simple elegance of the building struck me. It was the University Club, a prestigious social club for the Ivy League alumni right here in the heart of Manhattan. Through the tall, arched exterior windows, I could see portions of the exquisite lobby: walls made of a rich mahogany stained to a deep brown, a luxurious sitting area, and numerous chandeliers.

Parent Prayer Calendar

Below please find a list of ways for parents to be praying for The King's College in the next month.

For the Administration:
Please be in prayer for the Administration of the College as they conduct the move to the Financial District, and specifically the Operations Team. The move will require detailed planning and "all hands on deck" when the time comes. Please pray for grace in the moving process and for a smooth transition throughout the summer.

For International Ventures teams:
Forty students will soon depart for Turkey, China, Israel and Uganda to engage top students in these countries, and to grapple with the issues shaping these regions. Please pray for safe travel and health for these students, faculty, and staff. Pray also for the necessary funding to be provided in these final weeks before the two mid-summer trips. Most importantly, pray that our students would be winsome in communicating truth and exchanging academically accross cultures.

For Graduating Students:

Pray for graduating seniors as they seek out jobs and other next steps. Pray that they would have peace in the process of interviewing and decision-making. Pray also that they will see God’s provision in the coming months through jobs, churches, and new friendships.
