The House Crest of Susan
B. Anthony
The colors of our crest
are maroon and white. Maroon
traditionally stands for
being patient in battle and
yet victorious while white
stands for peace and
sincerity. It is our goal to
persevere in relationships
and life with a purposeful,
yet, sincere and calm
manner.
The Cinquefoils symbolize
hope and joy. It is our
desire that, like Romans
15:13 says, the God of hope
will fill us with joy and
peace as we continually
place our trust in him and
that that hope and joy will
overflow to those in our
presence.
The meaning of the quill and
inkwell is twofold. First,
it represents our namesake,
Susan B. Anthony, and her
medium of choice for
impacting the world around
her. Second, it represents
influence and our aspiration
to affect the culture we
live in.
The flame/torch represents
our zealousness for life,
truth, and wisdom and for
kindling these values in
order to illuminate our
sphere of influence.
The Cornish crow signifies
Susan B. Anthony’s strategic
means of engaging the
culture around her as well
as her watchfulness for
those closest to her.
The Latin words esse quam
videri mean, “to be rather
than to seem.” One of our
central values is
authenticity. |
