Goal
The objective of each House is to create an advertising strategy for a designated product, set up a public display in New York City, and achieve the highest profit from the sales of the product.
 
Description
At the Opening Ceremony, each House will receive a large quantity of the designated product and a $100 advertising budget. Each House will have 24 hours to complete the objective of the competition which will conclude with a presentation in front of three judges in the Boardroom. All nine Houses will be judged on their profit, advertising strategy, and public display. The House with the highest score relative to the other Houses will win the competition.
 
Rules
Advertisement:
  • Any publishing methods which are covered by the budget can be utilized to advertise the product and the public display (receipts must be returned).
  • Each House can determine the sales price (above the cost) of the product.
  • All sales are final. Once the profit is deposited in the House account, the funds may not be returned to the purchaser.
  • No house funds can be used to purchase the product.
  • Any profits exceeding the advertising costs will be deposited in the House accounts.
  • No additional financial resources can be used for advertising.
  • You may only consult outside sources that have no previous knowledge about the product.
  • All money (cash only), receipts, and any unsold quantities of the product need to be returned to the Student Lounge by Saturday 7 p.m.
Presentation:
  • Three distinguished judges from the business field will judge the presentations in the Boardroom.
  • All presentation teams need to be present in the Student Lounge at 7:30 p.m. where the order of presentations will be announced.
  • Each House will give a five minute presentation in the Founder’s Room, and answer a maximum of two questions from the judges.
  • Houses may have up to five members present in the Boardroom.
  • Visual aids can be used if the presentation team brings in the necessary equipment.
  • A live-feed to the Student Lounge will be set up in the Boardroom.
