The House Crest of
Winston Churchill
The House of Winston
Churchill Crest displays the
Three Christian Virtues:
Faith, Hope, and Love. In
addition, the Four Cardinal
Virtues: Prudence,
Temperance, Justice, and
Fortitude. And lastly the
crest exhibits our loyalty
to The King’s College, The
House of Churchill, and most
importantly our Heavenly
Father.
The Trinity symbol
represents the Three
Christian Virtues of Faith,
Hope, and Love. In addition
to this representation there
is a balance of equality
between them. Neither virtue
is more or less important
than the other.
The Four Cardinal Virtues
are depicted throughout the
crest. The Bible symbolizes
prudence. Justice is
represented by the
silhouette of our house
leader, Winston Churchill
and temperance through the
cigar in his mouth. Finally,
the virtue of fortitude is
portrayed by the lion.
The Latin phrase “Conventus
Frater” translates to “Union
of Brothers.” We are
brothers in the House of
Churchill, The Kings
College, and most
significantly brothers under
Christ.
The triad of crosses reminds
us of the great sacrifice
our Lord Jesus made for all
mankind and our devotion to
him. It is to the cross we
cling and through his death
we live.
“Never give in--never,
never, never, never, in
nothing great or small,
large or petty, never give
in except to convictions of
honor and good sense. Never
yield to force; never yield
to the apparently
overwhelming might of the
enemy.” -Sir Winston
