Event Date: February 9, 2013 The objectives of this
event are as follows:
- Each House will
research their
namesake’s life history,
specifically addressing
their accomplishments
and what made them
worthy to be a House
namesake.
- Each House is
responsible to write a
1500 word biography of
their namesake.
- Finally, following
the outline of the
biography, each House
will develop and give an
inspirational and
creative presentation of
their namesake’s life,
values, and
accomplishments.
Competition
Rules
- Each House must have
a minimum of four
presenters (there is no
maximum): one freshman,
one sophomore, one
junior, one senior.
- Each House’s entire
presentation must be
between seven and ten
minutes in length.
- No presenter may use
notes or written
material, and any
substantive deviations
from the biography
outline will be
penalized.
- Presenters must
speak primarily in
English.
- Failing to start or
finish on time will
result in a penalty of 2
to 5 points. Egregious
infractions will result
in disqualification.
- The biography must
be given to Shelli Cline
in Student Development
by February 1, 5:00 p.m.
- While The King’s
English is the primary
emphasis of this
competition, creativity
may be utilized to
enhance the
presentation. Props,
costuming, and other
media may be used as
long as it is used to
supplement and enhance
the live presentation,
NOT as the primary
delivery (e.g. a video
about your namesake,
prepared ahead of time,
will not be allowed.
However, background
music, or someone
dressed up as your
namesake as part of your
presentation, is
acceptable). If you have
ANY question about
whether a form of media
is allowed, ask Shelli
Cline for clarification.
Awards
Houses will receive
points according to the
