The King's Debate SocietyFounded in 2008, The King's Debate Society has
emerged as one of the most dynamic student-led organizations at The King's
College. The debate society exists to train students to advocate truth in
the marketplace of ideas.
In three years of operation, the organization
has expanded from a handful of students to a nationally-recognized,
award-winning program with over 20 members, a coach, and substantial
institutional funding. Debate society members have competed successfully
against the nation's top debate programs, including Harvard, Princeton,
Cornell, and the University of Vermont. The society has also partnered with
local colleges and universities in New York City to encourage discussion on
topics ranging from abortion and the economics of the welfare state to a
U.S. invasion of Libya.
In addition to competing nationally, the debate society plans to attend
the 2011-2012 world championship tournament in Manila, Philippines next
year. The society’s leadership has partnered with the college to raise funds
to attend the championship tournament. You can donate by clicking
