What is Residence Life? |

The mission of Residence Life at The King’s
College is to provide superior living environments and develop communities
of accountability where students love, respect, and challenge one another. |

What are Chamberlains? |
| |
Chamberlains are students who serve in House
leadership. They are responsible for promoting safe and healthy living
environments in residential housing, fostering a community of accountability
among residents, and providing periodic on-call emergency assistance. |

What are Housing Assistants? |
| |
Housing Assistants are students who are hired
by Student Life staff to help with the daily administration of the Housing
locations. They conduct monthly room checks, collect paperwork (Over-night
Guest Request Forms, Key Replacement Forms, etc.), and provide periodic
on-call emergency assistance. |

How do Houses factor into my Residence Life
experience? |

Houses serve as a primary means for building
community at King’s. Please refer to the

Do Student Life staff live on campus? |
| |
A full-time Student Development staff member
lives in each King’s College residence. Designated individuals are on call
24-hours a day to provide emergency assistance. |

Where is the Clark Street Residence? |
| |
The Clark Street Residence is located in
Brooklyn Heights, Brooklyn. The address is 8 Clark Street, Brooklyn, NY
11201. The residence is just over two blocks away from the 2 and 3 Trains’
Clark Street stop. |

How safe is the Clark Street Residence? |
| |
There are 24-hour, 7 day-a-week security
officers present to monitor the building and visitors. All guests must sign
in. |

How safe is the Brooklyn Heights
neighborhood? |
| |
While there is an element of risk in any city, the Brooklyn Heights
neighborhood is one of the best in New York. It is known as a quiet, family
friendly place with brownstones and historic buildings all around. |

Do the buildings have an Emergency Action

How long is the travel time between the
Clark Street Residence and the 52 Broadway? |
| |

How much will it cost for transportation to
and from 52 Broadway? |
| |
We advise students to purchase an unlimited
30-Day Metrocard, which costs $104, so that they can travel freely and take
advantage of all that the city has to offer in the way of parks, museums,
historic buildings, etc. Metrocards can be purchased in any subway station. |

Is there a gym/health club nearby? |
| |
Eastern
Athletics
Eastern Athletics offers a variety of daily classes, a lap pool, machines,
personal trainers for an additional fee, and a squash/racquetball courts for
an additional fee. King’s students pay $350 for a 9 month membership, $39 a
month. |

What is the availability and cost of laundry facilities? |
| |
Laundry facilities are available in student housing and cost
approximately $3 for a combined wash and dry. |

What TV/cable amenities are offered in King’s apartments? |
| |
All apartments receive a cable package through Time Warner. |
| |

| 16. |
Can a student purchase additional TV/cable options? |
| |
No. The IT Department handles all cable/internet matters,
including account maintenance and technical support. Purchasing additional
services would hinder quality control, maintenance processes and effective
administration. |

Is wireless internet provided in the apartments? |
| |
Yes. |

What size mattresses are provided? |
| |
Standard size (36” x 74”). |

Can students have pets? |
| |
The only pets allowed are fish. |

What is the alcohol policy in student housing? |
| |
No alcohol is permitted in student housing owned or leased
by the College. This includes balconies, stairwells, laundry rooms, roofs
and other common areas. |

Can students have overnight guests? |
| |
Overnight guests of the opposite sex are prohibited in
King’s housing. To have over-night guests of the same sex, students are
required to submit an Overnight Guest Request to their Housing Assistant,
and restrictions apply regarding frequency and number of visitors per
night/semester. A detailed explanation of this policy can be found in our
Student Handbook. |

What if I have a maintenance request? |
| |
Maintenance and repair requests can be submitted online
using the
Maintenance Request Form. Students should only contact building security
or the front desk in cases requiring immediate attention (e.g. flooding,
loss of electricity). |

Can I retract my housing commitment at any time? |
| |
No. Contracts generally require a year-long commitment and
are non-refundable. You may contact Residence Life at
housing@tkc.edu for more questions
about the housing contract. |

What do I do if I have problems with roommates? |
| |
While students are encouraged to address conflicts directly
with one another, House Chamberlains and Residence Life staff are available
to intervene when necessary. |

What do I do when there is an honor infraction in
housing? |
| |
Honor code violations are addressed in accordance with the
Student Handbook (see section on discipline and the Honor Code). |

| 26. |
Can I send boxes to my King’s College apartment
before moving in? |
|
No. The mail room at Clark Street will not accept packages
until you’ve officially moved in. |
|

| 27. |
Will a vacuum cleaner be available for use in
student apartments? |
|
Yes. Students may borrow vacuum cleaners from designated
rooms. You can ask your Housing Assistant for these room locations after you
have moved into your apartment. |

What should I pack for life in New York City? |
|

Housing Checklist for suggested items. Please remember, due to limited
space in shared apartments, that “less is more.” |
