I’m excited to share news of upcoming transitions in King’s College housing.

The College is expecting it’s largest class of incoming students this fall. And, as a result of changes in City housing regulations, we have to reduce the number of occupants in The Herald Towers and The Vogue to three students per apartment. These factors mean we’re growing and that we need to find additional housing.

Over the past few months we’ve scrutinized numerous buildings in various locations, most of which were inferior to our standards, too expensive, or too far from classrooms. We have, however, found a great building, called the Ludlow Residence, that will serve students well – a brand new building owned by the School of Visual Arts and located 20 minutes away door-to-door on the corner of Ludlow and Delancey Streets. Most of the rooms are singles with a handful of doubles; the building includes amenities that make it attractive:

  • 24/7 security
  • Secure key card entry for the building and student rooms
  • Wireless access throughout entire building
  • Cable TV access in every room
  • FREE laundry!
  • Temperature controls in each room
  • Vibrant neighborhood with inexpensive restaurants
  • Large student lounge
  • Outdoor terrace on second floor

Take a visual tour of the building by clicking HERE.

We plan to house all the men in the Ludlow Residence, while the Herald Towers and the Vogue will be reserved for female students. Because the men will have additional travel time, we will offer a $50 monthly travel rebate for students living in the Ludlow Residence. You will also learn more about housing costs through Anna Peters, Director of Financial Services, over the next few weeks in a letter sent to your home address.

Our Residence Life team is excited that the College is growing, and this growth is a tangible answer to prayer. We are committed to walking through this process with you every step of the way. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, Shawn Best at sbest@tkc.edu.

Returning Student Housing Application
Current students at The King’s College who reside in College housing must complete this Returning Student Housing Application to indicate their intent to reserve housing space for the upcoming school year. Unless otherwise arranged, this application (along with a one year housing contract due on “Apartment Selection Day”) will secure campus housing for two semesters.

Application information for the 2010-2011 school year will be available soon, so stay posted!
