City Engagement
King’s College students have volunteered in hundreds of capacities in dozens of organizations. The following list provides suggested sources to learn about current opportunities to volunteer. While all of these organizations enjoy a good reputation, The King’s College is not officially associated with any of them and therefore cannot be held responsible for their actions.

Opportunities

Ascension Church
Contact: Roseann Kytka , Director of Childhood Education, 718-685-8214
Website: www.discoverascension.net
We are a PCA/Redeemer church plant in easy-to-get-to Forest Hills, Queens. Our congregation reflects Queens - we are very diverse. We have found ourselves desperately short of Sunday School teachers for our Pre-K, 1st and 2nd grade class and our elementary. Another area of need is general church music. We are very short musicians/vocalists to help Sunday morning worship in the service. We would be happy to help those who would like to commit by perhaps getting them a Monthly Metro Card and/or meals for them.

Be a mentor (short term or long term); short term mentors participate in evening groups with youth at the agency, and long term mentors serve as a mentor for one year. We also have opportunities to serve as workplace mentors (give youth an overview of a skill or job – computer, music for example); spend time with youth showing them how to do mock interviews, real life skills with jobs, how to increase financial literacy, budget workshops, or self esteem.
