| Iron ExchangeThe King’s English
The King’s English is more than a
program. It is a virtue to which all those at The King’s College should aspire.
A strong command of spoken word in a public setting is essential to success in
leadership positions and undeniably valuable in any career. Quite often, it is
not brilliant minds that change the world but brilliant words. Given this, it is
not only the mission of The King’s English to increase the public speaking
skills of King’s students, but also to demonstrate the advantage they will gain
through those skills through speaking groups.
Speaking groups meet weekly for five to six weeks. Each group
has no more than six participants and one leader. Participation
requires registration. Speakers may record their speeches, so
that they can review and critique their progress. In the future,
TKE plans to offer career-specific sessions, such as business,
drama, debate, or public speaking.
The success of the groups
depends on attendance, and failure to attend meetings may result in a $20 fee.
Students have one skip, but are required to attend at least five out of six (or
four out of five) meetings.
