Student Employment at King’s

Work at King’s is usually reserved for the classroom, but we sometimes offer paid employment opportunities to students, too. Check back here often to see if there are chances to gain job experience and earn money serving campus departments, faculty and fellow students. Hiring is on a per-department basis. The Office of Admissions is the gateway for students interested in attending The King’s College. Through visit weekends, phone calls, and emails, the office of Admissions decides which students are eligible to attend and encourages those who are eligible to pursue an education here. Student admissions employees must have outstanding work ethic, ability to work in a team, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to work in a changing environment.

The Office of Advancement is the face of The King’s College that focuses on donor relations, alumni relations, parent relations, public relations, and career development. Events such as Homecoming, Parent’s Weekend, and Commencement are coordinated through advancement to support these relationships. The Parent’s Leadership Council, the Alumni Executive Committee, The King’s Roundtable giving society, monthly newsletters, and direct mail are some of the specific ways that Advancement fulfills its mission. Work in Advancement requires a high degree of professionalism in appearance and work ethic – it relies on student workers to accomplish substantial goals in these areas during employment.

The Business Department is responsible for handling the vast majority of finances and related reporting for the college including:

•Accounts payable invoice and reimbursement processing

•Accounts receivable cash receipt and credit card processing

•Tuition payment processing and student account billing management

•Budgeting of yearly expenses and pre-approval requests for related spending

 Positions in the Business Office require excellent math skills, as well as a high degree of integrity and confidentiality.

Business Development Department 

 The Business Development Department strives to steward the college's assets in productive and responsible ways.  In so doing, the department creates additional opportunities to grow revenue in order to support The King's College's central mission.

Human Resources

The Human Resources Department is committed to working strategically with the College community in identifying and responding to its changing needs. We will provide leadership and guidance in the development, implementation, and equitable administration of policies and procedures, thus fostering a positive work environment.

The Human Resources Department provides excellence in human resource leadership in support of the institutional mission, goals, and our customers, the College community. We succeed by earning the satisfaction of our customers, the respect and trust of those who govern us, support us and do business with us.

The Library is the first stop for research at The King’s College. Holding around 15,000 volumes, the library provides books relevant to student courses and resources, as well as a small computer lab and printing space.

Media Lab 

The Media Lab provides all of the media needs for events at The King’s College. The Media Lab handles video, audio, and photography for various events and special projects. Media Lab work requires a basic knowledge of related media skills and the ability to handle multiple projects, as the Media Lab typically has various tasks in queue at once.

Office Management 

Reports to: Office Manager Employee Type: Part-Time

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Database Entry, Daily walk through of facilities, Maintain general cleanliness of kitchen & facilities, Track Inventory (kitchen & office supplies), Prepare Conference rooms for meetings, Maintain the office equipment (copiers & fax machines), Sort and distribute incoming mail and stamp and send outgoing mail, Stock cabinets with TKC informational items, Assist with Petty Cash distribution and reconciliation, Assist with ordering supplies, Office supply delivery, Filing, photocopying, faxing etc., and General Office Assistance

Qualifications: Administrative Experience Preferred Interpersonal skills including tact, patience, courtesy & flexible attitude MS Office

Physical Demands: Must be able to lift at least 20lbs

The Operations Department is responsible for maintaining the facilities of The King’s College. The Operations Department handles all building-related problems, including maintenance request forms and room set-ups. Work in the Operations Department requires some physical strength, and basic handyman skills and mechanical aptitude are also helpful.

Phillips Journalism Institute 

This position is for a student worker for 10 hours a week.

The student will need to be in the office on Tuesdays and Fridays this semester for 5 hours each day. Splitting the 10 hours over three days could also be a possibility.

Work projects will likely involve some or all of the following: event planning speeches or conferences at TKC, marketing, recruiting, admissions and fundraising, writing for a web site and other materials, web site maintenance, archival projects, academic or journalistic research.

Qualities needed: Self-starter, superb writing skills, good phone manner, strong organization skills. An interest in or appreciation for journalism and media is helpful. Excel skills are a plus. Graphic design or web design skills are additional plusses.

Provost's Office 

The Provost’s Office provides support for the faculty members of The King’s College. The Provost oversees academic affairs, including curricula, receptionist duties, and faculty needs. Work in the Provost’s Office requires flexibility and follow-through, as the office handles a variety of projects.

The Registrar’s Office manages students’ academic records at The King’s College. The Registrar’s Office advises students for courses, reviews transfer credit, handles schedule and program changes, and other issues related to student schedules and records. Employment in the Registrar’s Office requires attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

Student Development 

The Student Development Department maintains many of the sub-departments that shape the daily lives of students at The King’s College. The Department of Student Development oversees the House System, International Ventures, Athletics, Counseling, Student Services, and Residence Life. Workers in the Department of Student Development may have a variety of skills required, given the breadth of sub-departments.

Student Services 

Student Services provides resources and solutions through effective communication and customer service. The role of the Student Services Representative is to provide proactive customer service, assist with on-campus advertising, space reservations, lost and found, and answer the main phone line to the College. Successful candidates will be well-versed in College policies and procedures and able to effectively communicate in a kind and professional manner.

Teaching Assistants 

Teaching Assistants work for individual professors. Tasks may include writing and grading quizzes, grading for grammar and MLA formatting, photocopying, and fetching coffee. Work and hours vary by professor.
