Black Europe, Christian Africa: Excavating the Origins of African American Christianity, 1500-1700 †

Prof. David D. Daniels III, from the McCormick Theological Seminary, presents this year’s Black History Month Address. Africans brought Christianity to colonial North America in the 1600s from Spain, England, Cape Verde, and the Kongo. This lecture will explore how these African Christians shaped the emergence of African American Christianity.
