Spirit Week (Themed Attire)

November 7, 2022 - November 10, 2022

keywords: institutionalevent

This coming week we celebrate an annual tradition known as SPIRIT WEEK. The King’s Council has designated the following themes for each day:

  • Monday: Cowboys vs Aliens
  • Tuesday: Hometown Day
  • Wednesday: Favorite Holiday
  • Thursday: House Swap
  • Friday: Fall Interregnum (Casual attire permitted)

Spirit Week Dress Guidelines – The Council invites you to participate in Spirit Week by wearing attire that corresponds to the theme of the day. Please keep the following guidelines in mind:

  • Hat and beanies are allowed if it is part of the outfit for that day, though they must be removed during class.
  • No full-coverage masks.
  • Refrain from gory attire, cultural misappropriation, and political commentaries.
  • No midriff or excessive skin.
  • Ripped jeans are not permitted.

Bottom line: Keep attire classy and it will be a great week.

If you are NOT participating, you MUST be in business casual attire. Refer to the Student Handbook, p. 96, for acceptable and unacceptable attire (T-shirts, shorts, jeans of any color, caps, beanies, gym clothes, torn clothing, or anything too tight or revealing, etc.). Everyone should be in dress code during business hours 8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. and during class sessions (regardless of the time of day). Also, please be advised that professors reserve the right to mark students as absent if they fail to abide by dress code expectations.

If you have any questions about Spirit Week, feel free to ask any member of The King’s Council. If you have any questions about the dress code or business-casual attire, please reach out to your House exec team members, House Advisor, or the faculty and staff here at King’s.
