Lecturer in Finance
Tenure at King's: Sep. 2017 to Present
Professor Jim Gannon serves as an adjunct professor in the Business and Finance department at The King’s College. He has taught Investments, International Investments, Impact Investing and Alternative Investments at The King’s College since the fall of 2017. Prior to joining The King’s College, Jim worked in the financial industry for over 25 years as an equity trader, mostly for the Swiss investment bank UBS, acting as an Executive Director of Domestic and International Equity Trading. Additionally, Jim actively managed a $50+ million proprietary trading account for Dresdner Bank. His senior-level positions within the financial industry enabled him to obtain various financial expertise, licenses and certifications, helping to build an extensive understanding of financial markets and financial products.
In addition, Jim founded the Common Cents Program in 2015, which conducts financial workshops geared toward high school students interested in finance. He currently works with The Gabelli School of Business at Fordham University, as well as other educational institutions delivering finance programs to teenagers. In addition to his professional experience on Wall Street, Jim is a Certified Financial Education Instructor, a member of the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst Association, the Catholic Finance Association, and The National Arts Club. This past spring semester, Jim served as a guest lecturer at Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism in the Business Journalism course. Jim lives with his wife and two children in Manhattan and is a graduate of Queens College.
