Josh Mackin received an MFA in Creative Writing from The New School, an MST in Adolescent English 7-12 from Fordham University, and a BA in English from Messiah College.  He is a Teach for America alum who taught high school English for three years with the NYC Department of Education in Harlem and four years of middle school English with Uncommon Schools in Brooklyn, where he also served as an Instructional Leader and coach for the Reading department.

He has written for The Washington Post, Atlantic.com, and Firstthings.com, among other publications.  His short fiction has been selected as a finalist for the 2017 Curt Johnson Prose Award in Fiction and for Honorable Mention in Glimmer Train’s Jan/Feb 2017 Short Story Award for New Writers.

He lives with his wife in Queens.  Their first child, a daughter, is due in August.
