Few people realize that among 182 American cities with populations of more than 100,000, the FBI ranked criminality in New York as low as 136 – or the same level as Boise, Idaho. Despite having a population of more than 8 million people, violent crimes dropped by two thirds in the last decade and the FBI reports that murder rates are the lowest since 1967. In fact, New York City consistently ranks in the top ten safest large cities – cities with more than 500,000 people – in the United States.
This page provides you with the information regarding crime statistics for our campus, including the various neighborhoods in which students live.
