Men’s Soccer Fall to Sarah Lawrence Gryphons

On Wednesday night the TKC Men’s Soccer team took to the road up to Westchester County to play Sarah Lawrence. The first half was action packed as the Gryphons scored two goals in a span of 22 seconds to take a 2-0 lead. Ishaan Pujari chipped a ball over TKC goalkeeper Jacob Wright’s head at 18:26 and Varun Kelkar struck 22 seconds later with a shot that just snuck under the crossbar. The Lions did not give up and after regrouping a bit, sophomore forward Zach Adams took a pass from Matt Contreras and slid a ball past the keeper to cut the deficit to 1-2. Nine minutes later Christian Cantu fired a shot that rebounded back to Adams who put it home for the 2-2 tie which would end the first half. Regulation time would also end 2-2 despite both teams having some chances to score. The game seem destined for a draw but with two minutes left in the second overtime, Ishaan Pujari would end it after eluding Wright again. TKC has no time to dwell on this heartbreaker as they play Cooper Union Friday and Webb Saturday in a pair of non-conference contests.
