The King’s College has joined the Council for Christian Colleges & Universities (CCCU) as an affiliate member. On July 26, the CCCU board of directors voted unanimously to accept King’s application for membership in the council. As an affiliate member, King’s has access to CCCU resources including listing staff and faculty career opportunities, access to conferences and events, and other programs and services.

King’s NYC Semester program, an important part of its focus on Politics, Philosophy and Economics; Media, Culture and the Arts; and Business and Finance, provides visiting students from fellow CCCU schools the opportunity to study these subjects right next door to some of the world’s most influential institutions.

Based in Washington, D.C. the Council for Christian Colleges & Universities (www.cccu.org) is an international association of intentionally Christ-centered colleges and universities. Founded in 1976 with 38 members, the Council has grown to 120 members in North America and 56 affiliate institutions from around the world.

President Gregory Alan Thornbury said, “Never have been the challenges to Christian Higher Education been greater, and never has its mission been more needed. It is an honor to join in solidarity with other institutions of Christian conviction through the work of the Council.”

Last week, the CCCU announced that Shirley Hoogstra will serve as its seventh president. Since 1999, Hoogstra has served as vice president for student life at Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan. During her tenure at Calvin, Hoogstra served as a cabinet member and co-hosted Inner Compass, a nationally televised show on PBS.

“The King’s College is ‘on the move’ under the inspiring leadership of Dr. Gregory Thornbury. Without a doubt, The King’s College will be a contributor to the larger work of raising up Christian young people today to be the leaders needed for tomorrow’s challenges,” said Hoogstra.  “The CCCU is delighted by the choice of King’s to join other quality higher education institutions in service to distinctively Christian missions.  Welcome aboard.”
