Welcome Back – Spring 2014

Welcome Back

Welcome to the Spring 2014 semester! I trust you got some much deserved rest over the break and are ready for the new semester. Personally, sleep was a pipedream – our newborn son ensured as much, God love him. Nonetheless, it was good to spend extended time together as a family here in NYC.

Over the past weeks, I’ve reflected much on the Fall 2013 semester. In my estimation, it was one of the most successful since our refounding in 1999. From the clarion vision of our President, to the quality incoming class, to the Fall Retreat, to the campus-wide events the Council pulled off (Fall Picnic, Halloween Party, etc.), the King’s community was lifted to new heights.

And we’re only halfway through the academic year. More great things are in store for us in the coming months.

As we launch into the Spring 2014 semester, we want to do it well. Two events this week will help us do that:

1.    All Campus Gathering – Tuesday, January 14, 12:00 PM, City Room: We’ll gather together to kick off the semester. President Thornbury will address the community. We will also announce the winners of the House GPA contest.

2.    Day of Prayer and Fasting – Thursday, January 16: When we seek God’s favor, he responds. We’ve dedicated Thursday for that purpose. Fasting is optional, but we invite you to take part in the following opportunities for corporate prayer: 8:30 AM in the Lobby; 12:00 Noon in the City Room; and 7:30 PM in the City Room for the first Refuge of the semester.

As always, the faculty and staff of The King’s College are here to invest in you. Please let us know how we can serve you.

David K. Leedy
Dean of Students
