Heather Cate
Lecturer in Writing

Heather Cate attended The King’s College and is returning in the spring of 2019 to teach a section of the entry-level writing course, one she herself took as a freshman in 2011 with the legendary Bearden Coleman. At King’s, Heather studied Media, Culture and the Arts with a focus on literature and culture. While at King’s, she worked for Professor Cragin Day and Dr. Johnson as a faculty assistant, tutoring and grading.
Upon graduation, Heather took a job with Success Academy Charter Schools. There she taught kindergarten and fourth grade while earning a master’s degree in elementary education. She left Success Academy to return to her classical education roots and worked at an independent bookstore between jobs. Heather also continued her long-time, irregular pursuit of acting on the side. In the spring of 2018, she discovered her interest in voiceover after voicing the narrator in a fictional podcast written by fellow King’s graduate Allison O’Donnell and produced by King’s own Cameron Strittmatter.
When she is not lesson-planning for College Writing 1, or recording voiceover, you can most likely find her in her Brooklyn apartment reading 19th-century British literature or watching biopics.
