Reverend Dr. Soon Chung is the senior pastor and founder of University Presbyterian Church in Los Angeles. Soon became the Presbyterian Chaplain at UCLA in 1989 and planted University Presbyterian Church in 1991 with the focus of ministering to students and communities nearby UCLA.
Soon received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from UCLA and his Master of Divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary, before obtaining his doctorate from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary.
He currently serves on the board of trustees at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary and has served in the past on the Board of Trustees for William Carey University as well as the UCLA Chancellor’s Committee on Ethics and Values.
Soon and his wife, Esther, currently live in Santa Monica, CA, and have four children: Faith, Grace, John, and James. In his free time, Soon enjoys spending time with his family, playing basketball, traveling, and eating meals with others.
